Space YZ
2021 - Campbelltown Arts Centre
In Space YZ, I showed Triumph a large-scale photographic collage and a series of documentary photographs from the Jabiluka blockade were exhibited in Space YZ, curated by Daniel Mudie Cunningham at Campbelltown Arts Centre in 2021.
The Jabiluka photographs were made during the protests against uranium mining at Jabiluka in the Northern Territory. Some of these photographs, along with stories and archival material relating to the protest, are now held in the extensive archival research accompanying Space YZ.
The exhibition brought together significant early works by 88 alumni of Western Sydney University’s Visual Arts and Electronic Arts program, revisiting the experimental and politically engaged culture of the art school. Triumph and the Jabiluka photographs offer a glimpse into my early photographic practice and the ways photography has been used to document people, events and political moments.
