Colour Star

2025 - Rogue Pop Up Gallery, Redfern

Colour Star takes its title from Johannes Itten’s colour harmony diagram and draws on the colour theories of Itten and Josef Albers. I made this series as an exploration of colour within my predominantly black-and-white photographic practice.

The images of loved ones and cherished objects are hand-dyed pinhole photographs, using colour to evoke mood, feeling and visual resonance. Collages made from hand-dyed photographic paper explore colour, shape and combination.

The works are made using hand-built cameras, including my 1950s caravan camera obscura, exposing directly onto photographic paper and processing the images in the caravan’s mobile darkroom
